Last Baby Shower

This past Monday I went to my second and last baby shower before Alethea is born. I was shocked when asked what date would work best for a baby shower here in St. Louis. I wasn't expecting to have another shower since we have only lived here a short time. I was approached by our elders wife in August and told that it is tradition for the elders wives to give a baby shower for the members of their fold and she wanted to host one for me. Jacob and I were thrilled! I couldn't believe that there would be women at our church that would want to come to my baby shower. Being new to the area I didn't think we would have such a welcome.
Well, the shower was Monday night and I couldn't feel more blessed. There were over 20 women there, some of who I had met only once, some who I knew fairly well and many whom I had never met before.  I was shocked and have been overwhelmed with all the support we have here in St. Louis. I know we have a TON of support back home and am so thankful for everyone, and now it is nice to know that there are also a local body of people who care about us and our child as well. We are so thankful for everyone here, the support and love we have received from our congregation and feel that we are blessed far beyond what we deserve.  Please enjoy some pictures from the shower! Again Thank you to everyone!!

Praise God!

Praise God! I (amy) now have a full time job! I start work this week and will be an associate teacher in the infant classroom at a daycare. I am so excited to have a job working with babies. I enjoyed meeting the teacher in the classroom and can't wait to share all about my new job.

Since I am working in a daycare there are a few requirements/test that I must get done in the next few weeks. I need to have a physical, tb test, and Hep. A vaccine. Fun Fun (not really) I'm not thrilled with having to get a Hep. A vaccine. I thought I was all done getting vaccines and shots for the most part, but I guess not. oh well just a small price to pay. But I am very thankful to have employment!!

Have a great night everyone! I will post more about my job sometime later this week.

Gradtitudes Are Back!

My Thankfulness posts have not gone away, they have just been postponed. I have been trying to keep track of God's blessings in our lives but it has gotten away from me during our move. Now that we are settled, I am back into tracking our blessings and still have the goal of recording 1,000! I'm not sure how long it will take, but it is still my goal. It may take me years but I can't wait to get a record of One thousand blessings in my life.

Blessings

Earlier this week I read this blog post from Passionate Homemaking. In case you don't want to read it, her post was all about gratitude and how we are to be grateful for what we already have. Being grateful for what I already have has been a struggle for me over the past year. I have the habit of always looking for the next thing, whether that be researching for the "much needed" new computer that we have to get NOW cause its a good price, to focusing on my wants when we move. There are days when I am very thankful for all that I have been given, but there are a lot more days when I go if only I had ______.  In our consumer society it is hard to give things away, let alone be content with what you have. being inspired by Passionate Homemaking I am going to write down 1-5 items a day that I am thankful for. I started with a few on Tuesday, forgot yesterday and plan to have some more by today. The goal would be to get 1000 different things that I am grateful for.

1. Sunrise as I drive to work
2. E saying "but Miss. Amy we have fun w/ you". (in reference to be moving away)
3. Jacob's employment currently and in St. Louis
4. Close Family/Support
5. Housing in St. Louis
